Questions people ask

Does this work with the official Bitwarden apps?

Yes. Vaultwarden implements the Bitwarden API, so you use the official Bitwarden browser extensions, mobile apps, and desktop apps — just pointed at your Gateholm server address.

Can you see my passwords?

No. The vault is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from your master password on your device, before anything reaches us. We store only ciphertext — which also means we cannot recover your vault if you lose your master password.

Is there a free tier?

Yes — a free personal vault with unlimited items and autofill. Premium adds sharing, file attachments, and emergency access.

How do I move my passwords in?

Export from your current manager (Bitwarden, LastPass, 1Password, Chrome…) and import in the web vault. Our import guide walks through it in about ten minutes.
