These terms govern your use of Gateholm ("Gateholm", "we", "us"), a managed hosting service that runs open-source privacy applications on your behalf. Gateholm is a sole proprietorship based in Massachusetts, USA. By subscribing to or using the service you agree to these terms.
We install, run, update, and back up open-source applications — a password manager (Vaultwarden), a private sync server for Obsidian notes (Self-hosted LiveSync), file storage (Nextcloud), an RSS reader (Miniflux), a read-later app (Wallabag), and envelope budgeting (Actual) — on servers located in the European Union. You get the same software you could self-host, operated for you. Gateholm is in early access; apps and features are enabled over time, and availability may change during this period.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Your password vault (Vaultwarden) is end-to-end encrypted: it is encrypted with a key derived from your password before it reaches us, so we cannot recover it if you lose that password. See our Privacy Policy for exactly which apps are end-to-end encrypted and how the rest are protected.
Don't use the service to break the law, to host or distribute malware, to infringe others' rights, or to disrupt the service or other customers. We may suspend accounts that do.
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring monthly or yearly basis through our payment processor, Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown at checkout; we may change prices with notice, effective at your next renewal. You can cancel at any time — see our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
You may cancel from your dashboard at any time. Access continues until the end of the period you've paid for. After that, your data is kept for a 30-day grace period during which you can resubscribe to regain access; once the grace period ends it is permanently deleted (we email a reminder first). Everything we run is open source and standards-based, so while active you can export your data — or move to self-hosting the same software — at any time.
We work hard to keep the service running and your data safe, but the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not the authors of the underlying open-source software and don't warrant it. Keep your own backups of anything you can't afford to lose.
To the extent permitted by law, Gateholm's total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or on the site, and take effect at your next renewal. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Questions? Email support@gateholm.com. To report abuse of the service (for example content shared through a public link), email abuse@gateholm.com with the link in question — we review every report and can remove publicly shared content or disable the account behind it. (Your password vault stays end-to-end encrypted throughout — that, we genuinely cannot read.)
