Questions people ask

Is my data end-to-end encrypted?
No — and we say that plainly. Files are encrypted in transit and stored on access-controlled servers, but the service can technically read them in order to operate (that’s how sharing, previews, and versioning work). For anything you need mathematically private, use Vault or Notes, which are encrypted on your device.
What happens to my files if I cancel?
Your apps keep working until the period you paid for ends, then there’s a 30-day grace window where resubscribing restores access. The desktop client means you typically have a full local copy of your files anyway.
Can I bring files from Google Drive or Dropbox?
Yes — install the Nextcloud desktop client, point it at a folder, and drop your files in; they sync up like any folder. No special import needed.
