Your own Obsidian sync server

Sync Obsidian across your phone, laptop, and desktop through a private server that is yours alone — powered by the Self-hosted LiveSync plugin. Our setup enables an encryption passphrase, so your notes are encrypted on your device before they ever leave it.

What “managed” means here

Self-hosted LiveSync is free software you could run yourself — and running it well means updates, backups, and security, forever. We do exactly that, and only that:

  • A dedicated, isolated sync server per customer — nobody else’s notes on it, at its own private address
  • Updates, monitoring, and nightly encrypted off-site backups handled
  • Five-minute setup with the free official Obsidian apps on every platform
  • Our guide enables the encryption passphrase AND path obfuscation — we store only ciphertext

What you get

  • Works with the free official Obsidian apps — no proprietary client
  • Notes encrypted on your device with your passphrase before they sync
  • Plain Markdown files underneath — export is “take your files”
  • [[Wiki-links]], graph view, canvas, and the whole plugin ecosystem
  • Near-real-time sync across unlimited personal devices

Questions people ask

How is this different from Obsidian Sync?
Obsidian Sync is the official hosted service, and it’s good. This is the self-hosted route — your own isolated server via the community Self-hosted LiveSync plugin — run by us so you don’t have to operate it. You control the server, the passphrase, and the data.
Can you read my notes?
Our setup path turns on the plugin’s end-to-end encryption passphrase plus path obfuscation, so both note contents and file names are encrypted on your device before syncing — the server stores only ciphertext. The passphrase never leaves your devices, which also means we cannot recover notes if you lose it.
Do I need to be technical?
No. You install Obsidian, add one plugin, and paste in the server address and login from your dashboard. The setup guide takes about five minutes.
